Welcome to George A. Spiva
Center for the Arts.

Since its inception in 1947 Spiva has become a leading center for visual arts, presenting exhibits that showcase and reflect the vitality and complex experiences of the human condition. The center’s Main Gallery features the work of nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, while the Regional Focus Gallery ensures an accessible and dynamic venue for emerging area artists.

Fine arts come alive in Spiva’s educational programs, where students of all ages explore their creativity through many media and techniques. Studio classes, work-shops and outreach programs inspire, provoke and evoke an ever-deeper understanding and enjoyment of artistic expression in the participants.

Through its mission – to promote the arts, to nurture creative expression, and to stimulate and educate diverse audiences within the four-state region – Spiva draws
a large audience of young and old to explore, enjoy and participate.

Spiva Center for the Arts is named in
honor of
George A. Spiva, a business-man, philanthropist and lover of the arts who embraced the vision that the arts should be available to all.

Spiva programs are made possible with financial assistance
from The Friends of St. Avips and the Missouri Arts Council,
a State agency.
