In Memoriam
Susan Howard

JOPLIN, Mo. — Susan Howard, age 63, of Joplin, passed away at 7:34 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, 2006, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin following a lengthy illness.

Susan was born March 23, 1943, in Kansas City, Mo. She moved to Joplin from Kansas City in 1963. She was employed with the Missouri State Employment Office in Joplin for 29 years before retiring in 2002. Susan was a member of the United Hebrew Congregation and was very involved with the Temple Sisterhood, serving as a past president. She also volunteered at the Spiva Art Center and St. John’s Auxiliary.
Susan married Mike Howard March 13, 1963, in Kansas City and he survives.

Additional survivors include one daughter, Gwynn Caruthers, Carl Junction, Mo.; two sons, Greg Howard and wife, Lisa, Joplin, and Joe Howard and wife, Evelyn, Webb City, Mo.; one brother, Harvey Shapiro and wife, Ginny, Lees Summit, Mo.; and four grandchildren, Drew Caruthers, Alysha Howard, Ross Howard and Annie Howard.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Hebrew Congregation, 702 Sergeant, with Student Rabbi Brian Stoller officiating. Burial will be in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Chew, Gregg Whitsett, Jim Frazier, Nick Capra, Dan Shapiro and Jason Shapiro.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions
to the United Hebrew Congregation.

In accordance with Jewish tradition, the casket will be closed at all times.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary,
of Joplin.
