The Return
of the Yellow Peril:
A Survey of the Work of Roger Shimomura 1967–
2007
Painter, printmaker and performance artist Roger Shimomura
was a distinguished professor of art at KU for 35
years before he retired in 2004. His vividly colored
canvases integrate Japanese woodblock prints and Pop
Art style, unforgettably illustrating racism, stereotyping,
and the pain that prejudice causes.
A Program of Exhibits USA, a national division of
Mid-America Arts Alliance with the Missouri Arts Council
and The National Endowment for the Arts.
