Pysanky Eggs
Saturday, April 8 (at Spiva)
Time: 10:00am – Noon
Instructor: Carolyn Trout

Ages: Limited to 8 students, Teens and Adults
You’ve seen those gorgeous Ukrainian eggs, now try one
yourself. Carolyn Trout, former director of the Joplin Public
Library, has been creating Ukrainian
Easter eggs (Pysanky) for 25 years. This ancient art form
uses egg shells, beeswax, and water-soluble dyes to create
masterpieces in miniature.
Outrageous Eggs

Ages: Kids of all ages, 6–96!
What can you do with an egg besides dye it? Anything! Embellish
over-sized papier maché eggs with paint, pebbles, leaves,
lace, beads, baubles, buttons, feathers…whatever tickles
your fancy. Add wings, beaks, feet...let your imagination
run wild.
Bring your own found objects to work with, too!
Silk & Salt Watercolor scarves
Saturday, April 22 (at MSSU)
Time: Noon – 2:00pm
Instructor: Connie Knudtson
Cost: $30, includes two silk scarves
Ages: Teens and Adults
Brush fiber-reactive dyes onto silk, then sprinkle with salt.
It’s a recipe for a gorgeous scarf and a wonderful gift
for Mother's Day (or for yourself!). No experience necessary.
Location: Art Bldg, Missouri Southern State
University. Use the faculty parking lot at the southwest corner
of Newman Road and Duquesne.
Beginning Watercolor (5 weeks)

6, 13, 20 (at Spiva)
Time: 10:00am – Noon
Instructor: Paula Giltner
Cost: $100, plus materials
Ages: Adults
Enjoy learning basic watercolor techniques and skills with
Paula Giltner, Resident Artist at Ozark Christian College.
The class will begin with landscapes and develop into work
of the student’s choice.

Maché Sculpture (3 weeks)

Time: 1:00 - 4:00pm

Cost: $60, includes materials
Ages: Anyone old enough not to eat wallpaper
paste (You know who you are!)
Papier maché is an ancient art form using recycled
materials, offering low tech and high possibility FUN! What
